|Well, that sure is an unexpected tracklisting, huh?|
A promo of the same track which can be found on the first Gore Slut cd, These days are the quiet kind. There's nothing much to tell about it- there’s a small intro by Rudy in the card sleeve. I believe it’s on the Antwerp Music pages and on the Stickman site as well, but here it is -again.
“In 1992 me, Jacki and Bassie moved to an old brothel, which we called ‘Heaven Hotel’. In the year we lived there we made artwork, paintings, video-stuff and started a lot of bands. One of those bands was named ‘Gore Slut’. We played pop influenced by Jonathan Richman, Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, etc… like most of the nineties underground guitarbands.
Because the place became too crowded and we all got to do our own different thing the band went temporarily out of order. I kept on writing popsongs which didn’t seem to fit into the other bands I played with at the time, so I recorded them on 4-track.
In 1996 we started to play again, and also called in Thomas on the guitar, who was also influenced by Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth, Motorpsycho, etc…. like most of the nineties underground guitar players.
We play noisy popsongs (like any other popband) and there are a lot of songs that are like most of everybody else’s songs. The general part of them are in guitar chords C and G which are common chords featuring in most of everybody else’s songs.”
The Stickman homepage continues;
“In 1997 we released "These days are the quiet kind" on the German label Stickman. We played a couple of festivals including Dour, Nandrin, Pukkelpop: did the support for Betty Serveert and recorded the album "Above the Lisa Drugstore".
This time we recorded on 16-track. Some of the songs we played live during the summer gigs, some are brand new. This time we also used the chords D and A. The music is still traditional alternative guitar rock.
We also play in other bands which are: Kiss My Jazz, Dead Man Ray, Lionell Horrowitz and His Combo, Sell Fish...
