Not the exactly the best compilation in my possession, this. Several musicians and bands from the Lowlands recorded covers to original Boudewijn de Groot songs, a Dutch folk-hero from (mainly) the seventies. I'm not crazy about Boudewijn De Groot's music to start with, so I can't even attempt an objective view on the album. All I can say is, besides Bettie Serveert, dEUS, Shine and Arno's attempts, the
cd bores me actually. dEUS' version of ‘Kinderballade’ is good- but strange!! The one and only time you can hear Rudy sing in Dutch! He did the lead vocals, Tom Barman the backing vocals (Tom Barman did sing in Dutch twice afterwards; once with Belgian band ‘Gorki’, and once for a cover of Dutch band ‘Doe Maar’) Soooo, worth purchasing or not? ...Well, maybe. |
